Mr and Mrs White

Mr and Mrs White is an Australian furniture design and manufacturing company founded in 2011 by husband and wife - Nathan and Sasha White. Born from a shared passion for the home and an enduring commitment to timeless design, the brand has always been grounded in the couple's core family values: quality, honesty, and simplicity. With backgrounds in boat building and design, Nathan and Sasha's deep respect for natural, sustainable materials and their appreciation for lasting aesthetics have inspired a carefully curated collection of furniture. Each new design is introduced thoughtfully, ensuring that every piece remains part of the family for life—an intentional departure from the fleeting, trend-driven cycle of "fast furniture." Their designs are not simply functional; they are a celebration of enduring beauty and craftsmanship.
Guided by a deep love and respect for nature, their design approach is unhurried and focuses on the inherent richness of natural materials. Through careful selection, simplicity of design, and attention to detail, Mr and Mrs White hope their furniture fosters a stronger connection to our homes and the people we share them with. With the slow rhythms of nature as their guide, they believe thoughtful, meaningful design can enhance our daily lives and transform the ordinary into moments of joy.
"The simplicity found in furniture is akin to the beauty in poetry. It is in the subtraction, the considered use of less, where meaning emerges. It’s not just the materials or the form, but the heart and thought behind the craftsmanship that resonates with us and creates a connection." - Sasha White
The Mr and Mrs White collection offers a diverse range of pieces—from simple, functional designs to prominent, iconic statement items—each made to be used, cherished, and admired for a lifetime. Every item in the collection is made to order and meticulously handcrafted in Australia by a small and committed team dedicated to high quality craftsmanship. In addition to their signature collection, Mr and Mrs White collaborates with interior designers and architects to create bespoke furniture and joinery pieces for both residential and commercial spaces. Their commitment to quality and finely crafted design extends beyond the home, having contributed to the creation of bespoke fit-outs for retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and offices across Australia and internationally.

Duncan Meerding

Duncan Meerding is a Hobart-based lighting and furniture designer and making practice whose work focuses on light and its dispersion. Duncan, who is partially blind, is inspired by the dispersion of light into the alternative sensory world, as the remainder of his vision is concentrated around the peripheral fields and thus he is driven to design in this space. Concentrating on overall form instead of intense detailing, Duncan's works are robust, raw and internationally acclaimed.
Duncan Meerding prides himself on his commitment to ethical an environmentally responsible design, with many of the collections stand-out pieces making use of waste logs, and repurposing this otherwise discarded timber into stunning lights and installation pieces for both inside and out. All items are thoughtfully considered to ensure they stand the test of time, with Duncan avoiding the lure of designing to fit trends and instead consistently ensuring the correct materiality, correct process and correct application to ensure the quality and longevity of all his creations.
Covering a range of both interior and exterior aesthetics and installations, Duncan Meerding offers a wide array of lighting options, from log based mood lights, to curvaceous flat-packed pendant lights and minimal and delicate square lighting forms. All lights are moody and evocative in their applications, as well as effortlessly functional and chic.
2025 will see the continuation of exciting and innovative design and construction processes, maintaining a high level of craftsmanship whilst exploring new and emotive forms for all applications. Handmade in Tasmania, every Duncan Meerding light stays true to the principles of artisan design, handmade with love and care.
