The Mah Jong sofa hails from the 1970's hippie trail era, embodying freedom of form and function. Featuring various elements by renowned designers, the sofa's hand-stitched cushions can be arranged in a variety of positions to ensure flexibility through all possible usage, mirroring the flexibility and vitality of the era in which is originated. Designed by painter, sculptor and designer Hans Hopfer, the Mah Jong is one of innumerable sofas Hopfer has designed since the 1970's, several of which are featured in the Roche Bobois' collections. His pieces are sensitive to changing lifestyles and configurations, opting for fully-modular, floor-level units to prioritise flexibility and freedom of form and function.

The Aqua Table was designed by Fabrice Berrux to mirror the precise moment a droplet makes impact with the ground, frozen in time through the sculpting of a marble base. The piece reflects Berrux's typology for playful, sensitive objects that draw inspiration from the world of art - such as his Flower Vase; a tribute to Andy Warhol that served as a precursor to the poetic Mayflower armchair later produced by Roche Bobois. His designs famously reveal a striking graphic aesthetic through the interplay of material, shape and light.

This year saw Roche Bobois' latest exciting collaboration; a partnership with film director Pedro Almodóvar that has sparked the creation of numerous original, creative designs that inject unparallel innovation into the brand's chemistry. Almodóvar and Roche Bobois are unified in their servitude to colour, as a language, a signature and an emotion. This devotion has been a central inspiration for several collaborations and exclusive design through Roche Bobois' history since 1960. As the company enters a new era of exploration and creativity with this collaboration, they welcome back iconic pieces to commemorate the occasion.
Reissued specifically for this occasion, The Lounge Sofa by Hans Hopfer returns, which features images from Pedro Almodóvar's film posters, which he personally selected and adapted. The piece draws upon the principles of graphic design to deliver something that is equally sculptural, emphasising the artistic endeavour of this manifesto piece by producing it in 50 numbered pieces, each signed by the film director. The new era is also commemorated by the re-release of the Bubble sofa in new colours selected by Almodóvar, as the cushions, furniture and fabric represent an extended tribute to his cinematic universe.
