As the way we work continues to evolve, so must the spaces that support us. Brisbane-based studio M&E Interiors is meeting this moment by placing furniture at the centre of design.

"Furniture is never just furniture," - Creative Director, Rachel Vasallo.

"It shapes how we live, work and connect."

The studio seamlessly bridges interior design with furniture curation, customisation, and delivery, carving out a distinct position in the industry. With a philosophy they call Design in Place, founders Paul and Rachel Vasallo, ensure that every project moves effortlessly from concept to completion, delivering spaces that inspire connection and enhance productivity.

M&E Interiors is a holistic commercial interiors studio that specialises in curating and creating workplaces defined by wellbeing, adaptability, and innovation. Its strength lies in weaving furniture, custom joinery, and acoustic solutions into one coherent vision, ensuring every project is resolved from the beginning into a space that is both purposeful and enduring.

When projects require something unique, M&E designs and produces custom furniture tailored to place and purpose. Working closely with architects, designers, and clients, the studio develops furniture that responds to context from collaborative tables and banquette seating to curved workstations, planters, and acoustic elements. Each project reinforces the belief that design is resolved through furniture, shaping places that are not only functional but also deeply human-centred.

Together, these values come to life in projects such as Kalakal, where bespoke folding and dining tables, ottomans, curved workstations, and planters created a workplace that balances collaboration and flow. Here, conscious workplace design reflects M&E Interiors' dedication to craft, design intelligence and sustainability.

As a young studio with bold ideas, M&E Interiors is at the beginning of an exciting journey, one where furniture leads the design conversations. This vision continues to be the studio’s defining compass, embedding furniture intelligence into the DNA of every project and positioning M&E as both curators and creators in the evolving commercial interiors landscape.

M&E Interiors is set to continue its innovative approach, prioritising sustainability and longevity over fast fixes. Their next venture moves beyond curation to creation, designing adaptable, modular furniture, underpinned by narrative-led circular thinking.

"We're exploring how furniture can operate almost like architecture, embodying place, but with the freedom to constantly evolve," - Director Paul Vasallo.

Expect design that reinvents itself and is inherently built to respond to the evolving needs of people, place and planet. At the heart of this direction is the same philosophy that defines every M&E project; the belief that furniture shapes how people connect with place in ways that endure.
