Glen Iris by Julie Crowe Landscape Design x Cosh Living
With a focus on thoughtful design and impeccable delivery, Glen Iris by Julie Crowe Landscape Design is a celebration of inclusivity, creativity and transformative experiences. The garden is a living reflection of the clients’ experiences and memories and has been cleverly designed to grow and adapt to the needs of the client in her elderly years. The project is designed by Julie Crowe Landscape Design and Cosh Living, balancing timeless design and furnishings, resulting in a space that is warm and inviting for years to come.
A key consideration for the client was the maintenance of the existing Crepe Myrtle and other plants in the space that held sentimental value. The Crepe Myrtle now lives in the heart of the garden, anchoring the space in a sense of timeless elegance. Carefully laid radial limestone pavers ripple out, evoking drama in the space whilst creating a soft, harmonious aesthetic in this entertaining area that is echoed throughout the garden. Circular lawns and grassed steps add dimension and definition whilst maintaining the soft, textural elements that characterise the project. Cosh Living's outdoor furniture adds pops of colour and fresh neutrals, to create an inviting and elevated entertaining space.
The garden is home to year-round blooms, foliage interest and fragrant species, creating a layered and lush backdrop. The deciduous climber ‘Virginia Creeper’ is a deliberate accompaniment to the curved arbour in the centre of the garden, that add a dimensional quality to the space and will in time allow for a stunning cascade of foliage, reminiscent of Tuscan summers. Softening of the space continues through the addition of a curved rendered seated wall and the addition of ambient, bespoke lighting around the seating area, which adds further delineation and creates sculptural interest in the garden at night.
Longevity and inclusivity of the space were crucial to both client and Julie Crowe Landscape Design, with refined level changes to ensure prolonged accessibility into the future as the client ages. Smooth grass steps with forged iron handrails provide ease of movement throughout the garden and comfortability of use, whilst continuing the aesthetic, seamless design woven through the space.
Glen Iris is a sensory-rich space, which blends texture, colour and timeless style to create an enduring and inviting retreat. The aesthetic and comfortability of the space is aided significantly by the addition of soft and sophisticated furniture additions, which were selected from the Cosh Living range. Cosh Living is an Australian, family-owned furniture business that is dedicated to showcasing luxury pieces from both Australian and international furniture brands. Dedicated to ensuring sustainable design and excellent quality, their range covers both indoor and outdoor and transcends trends. All Cosh Living pieces are selected on the basis of three non-negotiable elements, long lifespan, exceptional comfort and timeless style.
Glen Iris features a range of stunning outdoor furniture pieces from Cosh Living, including the DEDON’s MBRACE and AHNDA Lounge Chairs and Footstools, as well as the Tribù's Drops Side Table and Nomad Ottoman. The pieces work to elevate the style of the garden, adding layers of comfortability and durability. The space caters to both relaxation and entertainment, maximising usage of the space. From casual dining to immersive exploration of the elements, the furniture works with the garden welcoming the client to spend more time outdoors.
Glen Iris is a collaboration between Julie Crowe Landscape Design and Cosh Living, carefully and intentionally designed to allow for deep connection to the outdoors, to memories and to sustainability. Careful furniture selections from the Cosh Living outdoor range blends seamlessly alongside soft textural landscaping elements to create a garden that is inviting and perfect for entertaining, whilst also allowing for prolonged use even into the client's elderly years.
