The development was inspired by the owner's own travels through the Italian countryside, specifically in Tuscany and Marche, and the stories they learned from the hotel owners they encountered in the Italian hills. Drawing upon their experiences the redevelopment of the farm included upgrades and replacement of former dwellings, adaptive reuse and restoration of historic farm buildings, and a bush regeneration program.
In the wake of farm-wide renovations, Rockpool Farm now hosts four stunning private, luxury residences, each available for individual hire. Each residence boasts north-facing vistas over the Byron Nightcap Ranges, their own private pool, and driveway access.
With an emphasis on sustainability, each residence runs exclusively on solar power and Tesla batteries, in keeping with the owners commitment to a carbon zero program. The site's redevelopment also adopted time intensive sustainability practices, as well as upcycling material sources from the farm, and focusing on the adaptive re-use of older agricultural buildings. Guests can sleep soundly knowing that three rainforest trees are planted for every guest who stays at the property.
Rockpool Farmhouse is the largest of the private residences on the nearly 40-acre Rockpool Farm, accommodating up to 10 guests in its 5 bedrooms and accompanying 3 bathrooms. The farmhouse underwent a full renovation in 2020; now a generously sized resort-style home exceeding 300sqm internally and 500sqm of external space. The Rockpool Farmhouse promises an ultra-comfortable stay, complete with heated floors, limestone terraces, multiple lounges, alfresco areas and north facing views of the hills for an informal, relaxed family living experience.
The now renovated Mango Packing Shed dates back 50 years, as one of the shire's earliest registered agricultural buildings. The owners of Rockpool Farm saw the potential to rehabilitate the building, in awe of the structure and notably the use of old bridge timbers in its construction. Following a three-year renovation, this reimagined shed now accommodates up to 5 guests in its 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The restoration included the extensive recycling of materials sourced from the farm. The Mango Packing Shed now serves as a reminder of the farms heritage and serves as a perfect location for families to secure ultimate privacy and uninterrupted views in this truly calming spot.
Storm Cabin, completed in 2022, acts as a successor to the farms old 1970's cabin that required demolition. In its place was constructed an architectural interpretation of a modern hillside cabin, designed to accommodate couples, including those with young children. The cabin now promises connection to the outdoors and to nature through its north-facing hillside vistas and private decks. Private pool, an outdoor bath and contemporary styling ensure a luxurious, relaxed stay.
The Bails, the final of the 4 Rockpool Farm residences, sleeps up to 4 guests in its two double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The open plan living floor plan and expansive outdoor decking entice families for a restful escape and an opportunity to enjoy country living. Meticulously rebuilt in 2019, The Bails is a luxury country cottage, complete with pool, ensuites and matching hinterland hill views.
